Unfortunately, the Achilles heel of this weapon system has been the cumbersome and time consuming process of reloading it, especially during high stress events. Modern science has well documented how humans lose fine motor skills during periods of high stress. Even when employing modern accessories such as a sidesaddle, the process of reloading is comprised of multiple movements that require a degree of complexity and fine motor skills... of which any these movements improperly performed could stop the entire reloading process! This is where the Pred Defender comes in! With a patented ramp and retention system, our accessory holds a fresh shotgun shell in a key position, parallel and just below the chamber of your shotgun! Using a simple gripping action, the shell is rapidly drawn into the open chamber of your shotgun! This process can even be supported if you are only able to use one of your arms and hands! Members of the Law Enforcement community are usually the first to recognize and appreciate this key feature!
The Pred Defender is sidesaddle friendly and mounts on the opposite side of the receiver. The Pred Defender uses the same trigger assembly mounting pin holes as do most sidesaddles! The supplied hardware is designed for the solo installation of the Pred Defender, however the supplied hardware will allow for 5/32" of thread protrusion in the mounting of your sidesaddle, which may or may not be sufficient depending on your particular sidesaddle. Please reference your sidesaddle's installation instructions for required thread protrusion requirements. You can have the best of both worlds... higher ammo count and a very rapid emergency reload! A win win combination!
Our current model is designed specifically for the *Remington Model 870 and 870 Super Mag shotguns. It will also work on some of the 870 clones such as the *HR Pardner and *IAC Hawk 872 Defender shotguns.
Works with 2 3/4" and 3" shotgun shells, Forend must not pass onto receiver when chamber is open and designed for use with pistol grips.
